Revenge can indeed be sweet...
When her brother's car plunges off a cliff with him and his fiancée in it, Amanda Davies gets the news personally from the fiancée's brother. The devastatingly handsome Italian businessman appears in Atlanta and whisks Amanda off to Italy to be with the hospitalized couple. But could his motive be more?
Nicholas de Frenza never approved of his sister's choice in husband to begin with, and now that Carita is in a coma due to her fiancé's reckless driving, it seems the perfect time to resurrect an ancient Italian custom of revenge the seduction calls for a similar seduction in return, a sister for a sister. But Nico is too civilized for such vengeance -- or is he?
Even as Amanda falls for the Tuscan's charms, she knows his code and his family would never approve of her as more than a simple dalliance. But then the secret about the car wreck comes out -- and that's when everything changes...
A contemporary romance by one of the legends of the genre.
Category-length novel.

If you like those small, older romances, which provide light escapism, then you'll probably enjoy this one. It's a quick, stand-alone book to read. No spoiler with this review. The sexual situations are explicit, but not to the point of erotica. Wealthy, attractive, Italian businessman Nicholas de Frenza (Nico) arrives in America to escort (whisk) Amanda Davies (Mandy) from Atlanta to Florence, Italy, where her brother and his sister are being medically treated following a terrible auto accident. Nicholas and Amanda are attracted to each other. Amanda's brother, Johnathan, is a race car driver who sustained multiple injuries in the accident. Nico's sister, Carita, in a coma. After arrival in Italy, Amanda requests a hotel for her stay, but Nicholas drives her to his family villa instead. Given the title (The Tuscan's Revenge Wedding), you would think that this would be the start of a plot with plenty of of angst, but disappointingly, there is very little. Because of the lack of angst in a book which, per the title, should clearly have more, and perhaps also due to the predictability of the story, this book was "just okay". It was written by a very talented and prolific writer who chose just hearts and flowers in lieu of a romantic story which could have, and per the title should have, included tension and intrigue.Product details

The Tuscan Revenge Wedding Italian Billionaires Book 1 edition by Jennifer Blake Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews
I grew up reading Mills and Boon romances and this story was a bit of a throw back to the stories of that era. No modern twist on this classic. The female melts into a hopeless puddle at his simple touch and once or twice some of the things he was musing about would be considered sexual assault in this day and age. Not a bad story but just not in keeping with modern sensibilities.
Years ago I read many, many Harlequin Presents books. The Tuscan's Revenge Wedding is reminiscent of those books. I have nothing against those books. After all, I probably read over a hundred of them. If you like that type of book, you'll probably like this book. I read the entire book. It's a little old fashioned, but I can't fault the spelling, grammar or use of words with more than two syllables which is refreshing. For that alone, I'm giving the book an extra star.
This book was awful. The writing was disjointed.the so-called strong heroine was basically kidnapped by the hero(gagging as I type hero) and seemed to develop Stockholm Syndrome. I couldn't follow the flow of the story. One minute were are on one subject in the story the next it skips to something totally different. It was almost like the author was making a patchwork quilt but with words. I have read some pretty bad stuff, but this has got to be in the category of all time worst. I wish I could have given it negative stars. DON''T WASTE YOUR MONEY OR KINDLE SPACE WITH THIS
This was an average, enjoyable enough book. The characters are typical of the foreign billionaire businessman Harlequin story with the autocratic gorgeous Alpha man who meets the independent pretty American woman who challenges him. The plot revolves revolves around the characters and their relationships, no bad guys.
Nico de Frenza shows up unannounced in Atlanta at the restaurant where Amanda Davies usually eats lunch. He tells her that her brother has been in a bad car accident and is in the hospital in Italy. Nico' s sister was also in the car and is in a coma. He offers to take her to Italy to be with her brother. He's arranged a leave from work, a service to water her plants and take in her mail, all she needs are her passport and a few essentials. The next thing she knows, she's in Italy via a private jet. They have to dodge the paparazzi to get into the hospital and that's when she finally realizes just how famous Nico and his family are, along with her brother's own fame on the car racing circuit.
Nico and Mandy clash over who's at fault and if it matters. He invites her to stay at his villa and supplies her with more clothing. They fight their attraction to each other, but eventually they give in. There are family misunderstandings and language problems and it really looks looks to Mandy's brother like Nico seduced Mandy as revenge for her brother getting his sister pregnant and injured. Many problems to overcome for this couple.
Heat factor hot.
I like contemporary stories with alpha males and strong women. This was my first Jennifer Blake book and I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of zing (!) in it. After all, if we're going to escape into romantic stories, shouldn't there be some heat? This story takes place on the Tuscan coast (a beautiful area) between an American woman and an Italian man. His need to control things clashes with her need to be independent, all in a gorgeous setting.
I have a few minor quibbles, which added up to taking off a star. The biggest quibble is that it felt dated - at no point does Ms. Blake have her heroine using a cell phone or checking email to contact the office. I'm not sure if this is a slightly older (print) story that has just been released to digital/. If not, it felt weird to me that Amanda spends her time relaxing and not handling work (when she's not at the hospital).
Aside from that, a good read, especially for the price. When you compare this book to some of the serialized works out there (e.g., Beth Kery's Because You Are Mine, $2.99 for each installment), it's an excellent purchase. I'll definitely read more of Ms. Blake's work.
I always find it helpful to understand a reviewer's reading preferences since we may not have the same perspective. So, for what it's worth, I like Nora Roberts (newer), Lisa Kleypas (contemporary), Victoria Dahl, MM Daughtridge and Shannon Stacey. I also like some of the grittier stuff like Fifty Shades, Sylvia Day, Beth Kery, Raine Miller (Blackstone) and Samantha Towle (Mighty Storm). Not all are great writing but they are good storytelling.
